Bantimurung National Park is take a place in South Sulawesi. This natural reserve with 43.750 ha, only 45 km from Makassar/Ujung Pandang. Administratively, this national ark situated in Maros regency and distrik Pangkajene Island (Pangkep)

When we heard Bantimurung, the first time acros in our mind is butterfly. Yupz right, Bantimurung is famous for its many buterflies. Bantimurung called The Kingdom of Butterflies. Unfortunately, the number of butterflies decreased in the last decade. In first calculation there 270 species in Bantimurung, but in 1997 the number become only 147 spesies and the last count at 2010, it’s found only 90 species. Besides the number of species decrease, the number of butterflies also decline significantly. Because of the butterflies declines, the government starterd a program breeding butterflies.

This National Park also have unique karst, caves with beautiful stalakmit, namely Bantimurung Bulusaraung (one kilometres long). In Bantimurung National Park there was waterfalls as high as 15 metres that serves wide are for the visitors to enjoy the chilly water flow. In the waterfall, there a terrace that can be used the visitors as a place to swim. There are some caves you can explore behind the waterfall. Waterfalls and caves are in a lush tropical forest with limestone cliffs.
